About the band

The Holy Name Band is a concert band based in Louisville, Kentucky. Directed by Carolyn H. Cook and J.T. Taylor, we can be found most Monday nights, September to June, playing at community events, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or anyplace else good music is needed in the Louisville area. All are welcome at any venue.

A typical concert lasts about an hour. You’ll hear a great mix of works of from classical to jazz to show tunes. And, of course, there is always a march or two thrown in for good measure.

Founded by the Holy Name Society in 1939, the band is 60 players strong and growing. No longer associated with the society, our members come from all walks of life, age groups and belief orientations. One of the original members is still playing with us! Everyone who joins the band becomes part of a dedicated family of musicians.

Thanks for visiting. We hope to see you at a concert – in the band or in the audience – soon.

The band is back for a brief Christmas season. We played for our friends at St. Joseph Church on the 14th and will be at Nazareth Home on the 21st. Mask up and join us!

Hopefully, we’ll have a longer spring season next year. Stayed tuned.
